Des Sol Engineers have spent many months trialing this new low profile Roof Rack design for minimum wind noise, maximum weight to strength ratio and many rack accessory mounting options. Our base unit is a Des Sol proprietary extrusion mould unit that we have designed and had manufactured which will form the basis of all our unique accessory options that we will be bringing out over the next few months ensuring that any load that you may wish to secure to your roof can be easily accommodated.

The base unit frame and slats are assembled with internal stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers ensuring full protection from the elements 24/7. The design is flat without any protruding bolts or nuts making it very easy to slide heavy loads off the rack without them getting snagged.

Our proprietary designed slats system has 8mm “T Slots” moulded into the top and both sides of each slat so that you can instantly position your load/s where best suited to your specific ballast / balancing requirements by using standard “off the shelf”, 8mm bolts and / or Nylock nuts with eye bolts which easily slide along inside the slot and secure onto the side or top of the slat. The Des Sol Stainless Steel mounting bracket system is fixed to your vehicle with a rubber lining preserving the integrity of your metal roof and or sills, preventing galvanic corrosion that can occur when two dissimilar metals are bolted together.

The added advantage of this Des Sol base unit is that it opens our unique design up to enable a number of great DIY fitment options. Should you decide for instance that you would like to have sides all around your Des Sol Roof Rack, simply select your desired supporting material, make up your own design Roof Rack frame to your requirements and specifications and simply slot and bolt into place.

Coating and Specifications

Aluminium oxidation is accelerated by moisture. Many reputable Roof Rack supplier coatings flake off over time and expose unsightly white aluminium corrosion. Aluminium oxidation happens faster than that of steel, because aluminium has a really strong affinity for oxygen. Rather than flaking though like rust on steel, aluminium oxide just forms a hard, unsightly whitish-coloured surface skin

Our Des Sol Aluminium Roof Rack is coated with a specialised high strength 5 stage coating process not used by any of our competitors preventing unsightly white deposits and ensuring that your Roof Racks will last you for as long as your passion for overlanding does.

*Suzuki Jimny maximum roof load = 30 Kg to 40 Kg but a maximum of 60 kg is acceptable if fitting a roof top tent.
